Cooking, Cooking, Cooking....

I love Norman Rockwell pictures. They are usually so cozy and old fashioned, with expressions from people that I can usually relate to.

Anyway, things are really getting cooking down here in the South...in fact, I just overheated my cast iron pan and the smoke detector sounded. Everybody else is in bed already. Oops.

Well, I think that was Divine Intervention...and He is telling me I really shouldn't be on here. So I'm gonna post my Thanksgiving Day Menu and scat. Just in case somebody can't sleep tonight until they know what I'm serving for dinner. Lookin' out for ya.

Appetizers:

Garlic Dip with fritos
Cream cheese and pepper jelly with crackers
Pumpkin Dip with ginger thins

Meal:

Turkey and giblet gravy
Grandma's Old Fashioned Dressing
Mashed Potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Broccoli Rice Cheese Casserole
Grand Marnier Sweet Potato Casserole
Cauliflower and cheese
Cranberry sauce
Pumpkin rolls

Dessert:

Pecan pie
Chess pie
Pumpkin pie
Spice leaf cookies

I never really noticed how much we're really into dips and casseroles.

What about you...what's on your menu? C'mon, I really need to sleep tonight...!

Uh...YUM. What time are you eating and can I come? :)

I could live on casseroles and dips. Which is probably why I am needing to do Hot for the Holidays right now. :)

Yum!!! That sounds like ours! This year we are going to my son's for Thanksgiving and we are all bringing things. My job is to bring turkey, ham, dressing and giblet gravy... all the other goodies are being brought in by others. What a nice easy way to do it and I don't even have to clean, set up and deal with all the leftovers. I love this new stage of life with grown kids!

Merrie, I still think it's funny that the "kiddos" feel it necessary to leave the important work (ham, turkey, and giblet gravy) to mom! lol I can't blame them!

We are going simple this year; Turkey, dressing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, salad, rolls, pumpkin and pecan pies. On and white wine with the turkey.

Oh Chel, sounds wonderful! There are a couple on your menu that I don't recognize and would love to read your recipes: Grand Marnier sweet potatoes, Chess Pie, and Garlic Dip with Fritos. My menu is otherwise very similar. I just wanted to get over here before my borrowed time runs out to tell you what a blessing you've been to me this year. I'm so thankful for your support and friendship. I'm praying you'll have a wonderful day with your family and that God grants you the deepest desires of your sweet heart.

Wow...I'm now wishing I was coming to your house for the meal! Yum!

Everyone will be coming to our home (relatives from both sides). I'm in charge of the meat (turkey & ham), potatoes & I bought 2 bakery pies. Everyone else will bring side dishes and other desserts, so not really sure what else we'll have.

I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving day! Remember, elastic waist pants tomorrow can be our friend. LOL
