Meme Without A Theme--Randome Dozen [Quatre]

1. Tell me the absolute best way to watch a movie.

In my own home, snuggled under a soft blanket with my honey and the lights down low. Oh, and a side of hot tea or coffee and a salty/sweet snack to go with it.

2. Do you ever think about your own funeral? If so, do you have specific ideas about how you would like it to be?

I can't say I've ever really thought about it in the "preferences" kind of way. The only thing I've ever said to DH was that I wanted a godly man to lead it and give a tender, but clear, presentation of the Gospel. It would be some celebration if someone came to know Christ after going to my funeral!

3. Are you more of a giver or a taker?

When it comes to service, I'm more of a giver, for sure. But when it comes to gifts or material surprises, not so much. I think I'm just so surrounded by gift-givers (my mom, Chel, and my DH to just name a few...) that, compared with them, I am more of taker. I have to tell you though, that I don't even like writing that.

4. Vacations: planned activities and schedules, or play it by ear?

A little of both; I find that if I schedule too much, I end up frustrated because it doesn't all happen. But if I schedule just a few "important" things, then it's much more attainable and there is still plenty of free time to do whatever comes up. But I know if we don't plan anything, too much time will be wasted trying to find something to do, or we'll miss something great because we didn't do a little research first.

5. What is one often overlooked item in your home that needs to be cleaned regularly?

The corners of the rooms...some little turd spiders get in there and make these tiny cobwebs every time I turn around. Ticks me off.

6. Name a cause that means a lot to you.

This one was actually kind of tough for me because I don't serve a particular "cause" as in organization. I understand what the question is asking, but I'm not sure how to put into words what I'm thinking. So I think I'll put it this way: Reaching around the world with the Gospel is becoming something recently that means a lot to me. God has been showing me lots of areas where He is working and how I really could be involved in things that I never dreamed before. It's not that I didn't care before, but I was ill-informed. It's never been a priority for me, but it's starting to rise to the top.

Another thing that has drawn from my heartstrings has been helping other women grow in the Lord. It absolutely breaks my heart to see my sisters staggering in their walk and I so want to come alongside and help them gain strong footing again. My desire is that we would all walk in the one and only path that God has set before each of us. I know I need help in that area, so I want to do the same for those God brings into my life.

7. Do you eat a regular old peanut butter jelly sandwich, or do you customize it? And by the way, jelly or no jelly?

Well now, it wouldn't BE a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly, now would it Lid? Um, gotta have the jelly. Grape or apple are our faves. I do not usually customize it, because you just can't perfect a classic. But sometimes I put Cheetos inside, just because.

8. If we were having a conversation in person, how would I know if you were nervous?

I had to ask DH this question of myself, because I really don't know. Much to my surprise, he said he didn't know either! The only thing I can think of is that my voice shakes, but people tell me they can't hear it. Don't ask me how they can't, because it sounds like Poe's tell-tale heart to me.

9. Do you have an elaborate bedtime routine, or just the basics of toothbrushing and jammies?

I almost said, "Brushing? I'm supposed to brush before bed?" But since you all don't know me in person, I didn't want you to think I'm gross.

So it depends on how 5-9 pm goes. If it's 9:00 and I've just now tucked the boys in bed and my kitchen is still a mess, then basics is all I get by the time I finish it all. But if the boys are tucked in at 8:30 and I cleaned the kitchen and made DH's lunch before that, then I will take more care...meaning actually washing my face instead of just wiping the contact solution off of it, flossing before I brush, and rubbing lotion on my feet and arms.

10. Have you ever regretted something you wrote on your blog?

Not yet. Well, maybe the toothbrushing thing.

11. Has anyone ever told you that you look like a famous person or celebrity? Did you agree?

I have been told more than once that I look like Michelle Pfieffer, but I don't see it. Now that I've done a search for her pictures, maybe I should ask which one I most resemble?

12. If you were going to dedicate a song to a loved one or friend, what would the song be and to whom would it be dedicated?

Hmmmm....I am listening to Michael Buble's "The Best is Yet to Come" on the Pandora Radio website right now, so I think I'll dedicate that to my sweet Darlin' Husband. Awwww....

I hope you enjoyed stopping by...be sure and say hello to my good friend Lidna at 2nd Cup and see what all the other participants said to these rock-your-world questions!

Oh - Turd spiders!

Loved the answers, Chel.

I'm surrounded by gift-givers, too, which engendered a learned helplessness (uh, learned passiveness/taking posture) which I need to work on. I'm not proud of it.

I'm hearing a lot about Pandora.

Your number 6 really speaks to me. As I've grown up, I am drawn to more ways God is working as well -- its as if He is opening my eyes to see it better.

Love the PBJ answer -- Cheetohs! Reminds me of putting potato chips in it when we were kids

From the photo on your blog I think they mean the young and pretty Michelle Pfieffer : )

I loved your answer to number 6.

I hate those corner spiders! This time of year they are busy busy busy little critters!

I'm finding that I need to put more thought into my funeral...

Your answer for number 6 was good. I find God drawing me in directions I have always had "some" interest... but He is opening doors and leading me places now!

I'm gonna have to try the cheetos thing. I put potato chips on my egg salad or tuna sandwiches. This started back one time when I made egg salad sandwiches for a picnic & forgot to add the salt. Blech! So I just put chips on it - yummy!

I noticed a lot of our answers were similar -- but I never heard of turd spiders! Or cheetos on pbj's! (I may try the cheetos thing ...)

You're a genius! Cheetos in PB&J sounds like a winning combination.

Your answers are hilarious. (Well, except #6 - I love that one.)

I'm such a crunchy foods person and Cheetos are one of my faves. But inside the sandwich?!

The deal about the toothbrushing and then the regret was classic.

I'd take the first picture of Michelle over the second, for sure! I think I'll even take Ted over the second one! LOL

Snorted at the turd spiders. :)

And at the Poe reference.

And again when I typed turd spiders.

:) Loved your answers.

So you're the other SA who took PB&J sandwiches literally... I made almost the same comment you did (although I eat my cheetos on the side)!

Enjoyed reading your answers!
