HE DID IT!

He finally did it! After two whole years with nary a haircut...DH finally got it whacked. And good, too. He started out just growing it to see what it would do, and quickly got the idea to keep growing it to donate it to an organization called Children with Hairloss.

It's similar to Locks of Love, except the recipients' families do not pay for their wigs; they are supplied free of charge for children with medical reasons for hair loss. I heard of this organization from a mom at our homeschool co-op in which we participate. She has a daughter that has a disease I can't spell that causes her hair to not grow. She was like 5 when she had her first haircut! Her hair grows in patches, and either breaks off or falls out before it can get much longer than 3 or 4 inches. So Children with Hairloss will be donating one new wig per year until she it 21 years old...is that amazing, or what?

My DH has the kind of hair that makes women sick. Including me. I'm kind of glad it's gone now, because it's just so wrong on so many levels for a man to have prettier hair than his wife.

See what I mean? That's natural curl and body in that tail.

Okay, now you might need to sit down for these next few. I chuckle every time I see this next one, because it reminds me of a half an octopus sitting on his head:

I actually asked permission to post these, by the way. And I'm posting them anyway. :-) You can thank me later.

This one is the "first cut." Too late to chicken out now.

And the results are.................................................................................................

Here are all four decapitated ponytails. Well, they are! I'm thinking those ponytails owned that head of his just as much as he does!

Okay, here's the real result:

Captivating, isn't it? She doesn't know that she just sheared about 20 years off of his face.

20 pounds, too...of hair that is.

What do you think? Do you like it long or clean cut better?

I kind of prefer the clean cut - but if I had hair that gorgeous, I could understand growing it out! :)

Hey Chel! Well that little girl is going to be so happy. Is the disease Alopecia areata? It sounds like it.

I prefer the long hair just a little, but hey, what a heart! Which do you like? And which does he like? That's what's really important. :)

Oh my goodness. His hair is amazing with all that body and curl. Craziness! But girl, you've got a headful of gorgeous hair yourself, so don't be selling yourself short!

Now, I am definitely a clean-cut kind of girl, and I think he looks great in the after shot...but again...still slightly coveting the fact that he can even grow his hair out that long...mine won't grow a centimeter past my shoulders.

Your hubby did a really great thing...the little one that gets his hair is going to be thrilled beyond words.

I have to say that he looks better with short hair. I think I do too but once in a while I do think about letting it grow a bit. I would let it grow long and donate it but no one wants grey hair. :)

I totally prefer the short hair...he looks so much younger! Plus, you are married to a handsome man so he should show it off. It really does look great, and what a great cause.

Also, I agree...no man should be allowed to have hair that pretty. LOL

have to say that I like both....but he does look way younger with short!!! With great hair like that, I think he should grow it again for another child!!! what a great post!

His hair in that first shot at the top of the post is ENVIABLE! It's so shiny and healthy and BEAUTIFUL!

I don't know which I prefer - I think both looks work for him - but I will say this, not just any man can rock a long hair style, but yours did. It didn't make him look dirty - like long hair tends to do on some people.

Anyway, it's such a generous thing, he did. I'm with Sara who said he should do it again! :) With hair like that, he could thrill many children! What a generous heart! :)

And yeah, which look do YOU prefer?

Personally, I like it short and clean cut. Although I did enjoy "playing" with his hair when it was long! lol

The stylist who cut his hair said that she thought they might get TWO wigs out of all that hair she cut off! I think that would be perfect.

He is considering doing it again...we'll see.... :-)

After that and the Facebook list, I have to say you've got a great guy there. He's sure handsome with it short. I'd love to see the smile on those little girls' faces!

Oh my stars, love the short clean look. Very handsome. Lucky girl you!

My DD and I have just recenlty made Locks of love donations. She has done it twice so far and I have made severl donation over the last several years. It was always something that seemed like a no brainer. Sometimes it is the very small things that make the biggest impact, a little thing like letting your hair grow can benefit someone else, what's to think about!

Congrats to the DH, I know who ever receives the hair peice made from his donation will be very happy!

I have some pictures posted of my donation and my DD donation at the link below.

Good lookin' guy, Chel! What a great heart, which is most important. I think your first two boys look like him a lot and that your youngest looks more like you. You're all gorgy.

He looks so different. it's like every summer when my husband shaves his head. He'll usually get up and do it early in the morning before I'm up... It's always fun those first few days of getting used to the new look.

Yours looks great, with and without long hair.
